how to make the best of your time in the gym

People often say that they haven’t got time for the gym, that they can’t squeeze it in during their busy day. Whilst I am willing to accept this is true for some cases, most people are able to find 30-45 minutes a day where they could come to the gym and smash out a great workout.

Now I know that 30 minutes makes it sound hardly worth it and you won’t be able to do everything you need, if you’re a professional body builder I’d be inclined to agree with you, however most of us do not fit into that bracket. So for the average 9-5 worker you can get in a great workout in 30 minutes by doing one simple thing - timing your rest periods. Not checking Twitter, Instagram or Facebook between every set, instead looking at the timer on your phone waiting for it to hit 30 seconds so you can start your second set.

If you’re only able to come 3 times a week then hit opposing muscle groups (for example super setting squats and rows to hit your legs and back). Reducing your rest time will help you burn fat throughout your workout whilst building muscle increasing your resting metabolic rate (RMR) which will then help your body burn more calories in future. You’ll be spending less time in the gym and losing more weight. This method is not ideal for putting of masses of muscle, it is however a great way to get the most out of the time you spend in the gym.
